My artistic practice revolves around painting and illustrating faces in a style that evokes unsettling and distorted imagery. My interest in the human face and gaze is a central theme, reflecting my thoughts on being othered as part of a marginalised community. My work is a form of confrontation and reclamation; by painting the gaze that scrutinises me, I assert my own perspective, transforming it into a vivid, sometimes unsettling, reflection.
I explore themes of identity in my work and delve into the intersections of blackness, gender, and the often suppressed experiences of queer relationships within a religious and cultural contexts. This exploration extends beyond design to include video, sound, photography, and illustration, as well as written reflections on these topics.
