Xishood: The Free Woman’s Manifesto is a zine created in the spirit of early DIY Punk zines featuring illustrations, photography, paintings and poems which meditate on the search for liberty and the reclaiming my politicised identity. Xishood looks at both the oppressive forces in the west and within my community and attempts to let go of resentment towards oppressive forces without yielding to the system. The zine is firmly anti-racist, pro-women and inclusive. It is meant to appeal to anyone inthe process of breaking free from the status quo.Xishood means “Shame” in Somali.

Xishood was shown at No Format Gallery as part of Hysterical Collective Exhibition in March 2022. It was displayed in Stepney Green, London as part of a collaboration between Dazed and Jack Arts in July 2022.
